Howto create a IPIP (RFC 2003) tunnel on Fedora 19 or on Centos 6

1) Open the Firewall

 add in your /etc/sysconfig/iptables
 something like for both hosts:
-A INPUT -p ipip -i  -s  -j ACCEPT

2) Add tunnel interface
create a configuration file named ifcfg-tunnel
with the following content
in this directory /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/

DEVICE=tunnel
TYPE=IPIP
ONBOOT=no # or YES if you want to start onboot
MTU=1400
MY_OUTER_IPADDR=187.2.3.4
PEER_OUTER_IPADDR=80.4.5.6
MY_INNER_IPADDR=192.168.17.4
PEER_INNER_IPADDR=192.168.17.6

3) Replicate configuration on the other host

Do the same on the other host and exchange the value of local(MY) et remote(PEER) address

4) Try the configuration

as root launch the following command
# ifup tunnel

5) If you have trouble try to connect to shutdown your firewall just to be sure
